They've been through Epiphone's special double vacuum waxing process. Before the covers have been added, the pickups are put into a wax vacuuming system that gets to the heart of the pickup and solidifies every component and part. The covers are then put on, before the pickups are submerged in the wax vacuum for a second time.

All very technical. But what it means is that the pickups are completely sealed, resulting in totally noise-free operation. So crank up the gain all you like - you won't be suffering from any unwanted interference with these humbuckers in your guitar.
