Rikstone 5D3 Tweed

While related to the Tweed Deluxe 5E3, the Rikstone 5D3 Tweed delivers a distinctly different tone and voicing. Built around the 5D3 circuit, the early-1950s predecessor to the 5E3, this amplifier offers refined, sophisticated tone that resists breakup far more gracefully than its successor. When it does break up, it produces beautiful harmonic distortion with cleaner articulation than the 5E3.

The standard configuration features two channels with dual inputs on one channel only. The original input structure is best reimagined: either adopt 5E3-style inputs or repurpose the second channel for effects like reverb or a dedicated drive channel. The preamp topology mirrors the 5E3, but the power amp architecture diverges significantly, creating the amplifier's distinctive sonic character that sets it apart from its more famous cousin.
