The design is not based on the vintage amps that were designed for distortion free tone alone, back then distortion was a problem and amp designers worked hard to get rid if it.

Mad Professor amp is designed to produce distortion and can handle high power distorted tones with lot of clarity and tight low-end. We don’t believe in “distortion free guitar tone”, what you hear as clean tone has some distortion that we hear as depth, shimmer, sparkle, overtones…  and the Mad Professor amp has wonderful “clean tones” because it adds just the right kind of mild tube distortion to the tone.

This amp is designed by Björn “Mad Professor” Juhl who is a world famous Swedish amp and pedal designer also known for his superb BJF pedals. Mad Professor amp is hand-build by Jukka “Bukka” Mönkkönen, a respected Finnish amp and guitar technician who has given a new meaning to words “insuperable quality”.

This amp has some 60 years of Scandinavian musical experience behind it.  What was learnt while fi xing and fi ne-tuning all the classic, boutique and custom-shop amps is here. Hours and hours fixing the amps and wondering why they break, or why they sound like they do, why the amp A has tremendous clean tone but looses the solid bass when pushed, why amp B has a singing lead tone but lacks the detail and shimmer when clean. Hot-rodding the fine but limited amps made up the goal; to build the ultimate MAD PROFESSOR tube-amp.
