Ampeg Model B-18-N Portaflex 1967 Loaded with Vintage JBL K140 15" 8 Ohm Speaker

Here we have a piece of Finnish rock history in a form of vintage Ampeg. Few words from the owner, bass wizard Tom Nyman (J. Karjalainen, Laika & The Cosmonauts).

"I bought this in the early 1990s from a Lappeenranta from a secondhand shop. It was used that time as a studio amplifier at Hitsville IV studio in Pitäjänmäki between 1993 and 2005. It must have been used on hundreds of records at that time. The players who used include for example, me of course, Janne Haavisto, Lasse Kurki, Nick Triani, Esa Kaartamo and many other producers as a main bass amplifier in their productions.

Since then it has been used very little and well preserved in our rehearsal premises. I have played all Laika & The Cosmonauts recordings with this one and for the last 15 years I have usually taken it with me to recordings where I have played (e.g. J.Karjalainen's albums from the "Et ole yksin" album onwards).

Before I got the amp, someone swapped its speaker for a 1980s JBL 15" K140 (made in USA, serial 31510). A top-of-the-line element in itself, and already valuable and quite sought-after. The amp has been serviced and taken good care of."

The top handle is original, but in pretty rough condition as seen in the pictures. However, you can lift the guitar normally from it, the leather covering is just worn and partially detached (repairable).

The original trolley with wheels can be attached to the bottom of the cabinet. There are sturdy carrying handles on both sides of the cabinet.
